MERRY CHRISTMAS
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to each one of you.
We have joined the electronic age in sending our greeting this way instead of snail mail this year.
2009, our year in review:
It has been a sad year, but we have also been very blessed this year. The Lord is still in control.
Ted lost four siblings this year. Troy in January, Alvie in February, Geenita in March and Bill in December. He has two half sisters, Wanda & Betty, left in California.
In April Patsy’s ashes were brought back to Texas and laid to rest in the Hermleigh Cemetery beside Diane’s Uncle Otis. Their daughter Tisha and family made the trip out from Georgia for the family Memorial burial.
We were blessed to get to travel some this year. In February we took a short Carnival Cruise to Mexico. Not for sight seeing but just for the relaxing time on the ship. Diane said she needed some time to be waited on and not have any responsibilities . Ted decided a cruise was best option, got him off the hook of being the one to do the waiting on. LOL Of course he also enjoyed being waited on during the trip.
May was a busy travel month. Diane made her annual weekend trip to Ruidoso, NM with the ladies of her Sunday School Class. Later in the month Ted and Diane went on a bus trip with the church to Glorietta and Santa Fe, NM. Diane also had that BIG birthday in May, she is now 65. Ted had his 66th birthday.
June and July were uneventful. Diane did reach her Weight Watcher goal and achieved life time member. Now the hard part. Keep the weight off. It is too easy to slip back into the old bad eating habits.
In August Ted was told that he had some vacation time built up at work and if he did not take it this year it would be lost. We had bought a new car in April, and decided this would be a good time to try it out on the road. We drove to Springfield, Ill. Stayed with Carolyn, a dear friend that we met online several years ago. She was the perfect hostess and showed us all of the sights in that area. We saw all of the Lincoln museums along with many other neat places. Diane even got to do some fishing in her pond and caught a big catfish. One the way home we met Charles and Karon (ex pastor here) in St Louis for lunch. Next stop was in MO at the home of Wil and Carol, another lady Diane has become friends with via the internet blog. They took a whole day out of their busy lives and drove us all over the area. We saw so much that we would never have found on our own thanks to these people, not to mention the fun we had visiting with them.
In September we took another tour with the church to Granbury Texas. Stayed in a neat bed and breakfast. We shopped, went to a live theater and even drove over to Dallas and toured the new Cowboy Stadium. It was very impressive. We took our car. Ted rode the church bus home and Diane took the car to Wylie to stay with Lana’s family while Lana recovered from Hernia surgery. It went well thanks to Lana’s preplanning and the calendar & lists she made for Diane so she could keep up with all 4 grandkids and their schedules.
We were able to fly to California in October and visit Ted’s sisters, along with Diane’s only remaining aunt, Tolly, and Ted's nephew, Jimmy and his wife. It was a very special visit even though the weather did not cooperate and they had one of the worst rain and wind storms in recent years while we were there. Because of that we lost one day of planned travel and did not get to drive on down to Bakersfield.
For Thanksgiving we went to Lana’s. It is much easier for the two of us to make that 350 mile trip than for them to come here with four young children. Tina and her family were there also. We celebrated Lelia Rose’s first birthday.
Christmas will be celebrated with Tina and her family here on the 23rd then they will go to Tracy’s family. We will drive to Wylie and spend the 25th with Lana’s family, provided the weather permits.
Those were the “big” events. We also keep busy dancing (our exercise program) and visiting with friends. Ted and I usually make 2 or 3 dances a week at various Senior Centers in the area. Sometimes it would be nice to skip and just stay home and relax, but we know that would become a habit too easy. Time for that when we are not physically able to go and do. Health wise we are still doing good. Mentally I am not so sure. I seem to be getting very forgetful. I got a iPod Touch as an early Christmas present. I am hoping the calendar keeps me on track a little better.
Grandchildren are growing up. Tina and Tracy still live in Lubbock. Their son Aaron is now 14 and goes to Lubbock High. He is in JrROTC this year and enjoys it. April is 12 and goes to Hutchinson Middle School. She has been involved in drama, music and acting this year. We enjoyed seeing several productions she was in. John and Lana live in the Dallas area. Their children are now 1, 6, 7 & 8. Lelia Rose, Elianna, Matthew and Charles. Charles enjoys sports, Elianna is in Girl Scouts this year, Matt is still interested in anything musical. Lelia Rose is a happy baby that enjoys everything.

I KNEW IT!!!!!
I got energetic and baked chocolate chip with walnut cookies last night. I knew there was a reason I had not been baking. Not only did I end up with a messy kitchen, but I spilled softened butter all down the front of my good jeans and onto my house shoe. Ruined my jeans, it did not wash out! And now the pup thinks my house shoe would be a good chew toy replacement for her security blanket stuffed lamb. She has never bothered these shoes. They stay under my computer desk and I slip them on in the evening when I am setting at the computer. I caught her with them twice today before I realized why she all of a sudden developed an attachment for them, the butter!!! I was going to wash them with the towels this morning but had them on my feet at the time and forgot to toss them in. Now all of the laundry is washed, last load in the Dryer. Even got the bed stripped and ready to be remade with clean sheets.
THERE ARE NOT ANY COOKIES IN THE FREEZER, THERE ARE NOT ANY COOKIES IN THE FREEZER, THERE ARE NOT ANY COOKIES IN THE FREEZER!!!! Nope I don't believe that, of all the things I manage to forget, I keep remembering the cookies in the freezer and wanting to get into them. LOL So far I have resisted. I took out some last night for Hubby and I to eat while they were warm. MMMMMMM GOOD, but then sacked up 3 doz and froze them for Christmas. I got brave and weighed this morning. I was surprised. I had not gained as much as I felt like I have. Granted any is too much. I gained that 10 lbs right after I hit goal in WW and went on an eating binge. Today I was two pounds lighter than when I posted my weight on the calendar in August. That might have been the last time I weighed. LOL That helped me avoid the cookies. A little movitation to NOT gain any more and perhaps re-lose some of those 10 lbs.
OK back to odds and ends.. My lunch date fell through, she had forgotten a previous commitment. I still need to shower get dressed. YES, I know it is nearly noon, but I was waiting until the clothes washer and dish washer finished using the hot water before I got under the shower. Did not want an unexpected blast of hot of cold water.
Then I have to run to Walmart to pick up an RX for hubby and get my hair cut.. hopefully I can get them to redo it for nothing or a reduced rate. It has only been 2 weeks since they cut it and it has not done right from the beginning. But this is the first free time I have had to get it redone.

Caught up
OK, I did it.. I have caught up on all of your posts.. I did not comment on all but I did read them. But now I feel guilty and lazy.. To keep up with all of you, I need to decorate and cook and shop and save kittens, exercise, and have carpets cleaned, do Christmas cards and letters:::: in general get off my backside and do something!! So I am off to the kitchen to bake some cookies. DauL if they last long enough without me eating them, I will bring some of them Christmas. Maybe I can hide them in the freezer. As forgetful as I have been lately they will be safe from me there, within 5 minutes, I won't remember them. But I might forget them totally and forget to get them out and bring them. LOL -
Catch up!
I can't get my chips and dip to come out even!!! I am sitting here eating salsa and chips for lunch.. Not very nutritional but it is all I had here at the office and I did not want to get out to go get something.
Someone has spoiled this bratty pup. She went outside to do her business 30 minutes ago.. She is still barking at me to let me know that I did not give her a treat when she came back in. Wonder who did that? At home she knows no special treat is coming so she goes to her food dish and gets a bite of dog food for her "treat". Guess I need to quit calling her "the pup", she is now 2 years old. Where has the time gone? OK, I gave in and gave her the treat. Now she is laying on her bed content.
I can't believe that Christmas is nearly here! All that time that I thought I had is gone. Still have not done my Christmas letter. At this rate it may be a Valentine letter. It has been a good year, but yet a sad year. Too many loved ones left this world.
I have been trying to catch up on my Xanga post reading. I let it get behind.. I really like reading all of your posts, don't know why I slipped... oh yes, do know.. FACEBOOK! That evil time stealer.. but I enjoy it. I got hooked on a couple of the games and next thing I knew I was trying to do all of them. I was farming, fishing, petting, zoo keeping, building a rollercoaster park, stranded on a desert island and even battling in Castle Age! I managed to avoid Mafia Wars and a couple others. I yelled calf rope!!! Got rid of all but one of the fish apps.. I like fish world. Not building it any more but enjoy decorating the tanks and putting the matching fish in it. It did tic me off a tad when I had it color coded and some one stole a fish. I even sold all my fish and quit working it for a while. LOL but most of my neighbors have quit stealing so I went back to decorating. Right now my favorite is Zoo World. I enjoy the building aspect.. when it gets to the end stages I lose interest. Farm Town is there now.. I still do a little bit in it but not much. Castle Age is one I am totally lost in. I have no idea what the ultimate goal is. But I am doing battles and quests and making advancements in it. I probably won't last long.. I think you have to have an army (friends) to go much further and I don't know anyone else playing other than the person that invited me.
I think Santa made a smart move by giving me the iPod touch for an early Christmas present. I asked for a new working brain, but that was not in his inventory. I am loading the iPod calendar to try to help me remember my obligations. Last Thursday I completely forgot to pick up Grandson from school and it was one of our cold days. His cell phone was dead and he could not even call me. He finally found someone with a phone and got me. I felt sooo bad. Now I program it into my iPod when I am to pick him up and set the alarm. Hubby is getting worried.. he told me he had been counting on me to help him remember things. Now it seems to take two of us to come up with one so-so memory.
My boss' wife talked to me when they were here last time about keeping their dog for a few days and taking it to the kennel for them over the Christmas holidays while we are gone. They are coming through on the way to Colorado for Christmas. I totally forgot it. Asked them in an EMail yesterday when they were coming, I thought they had said they were coming. When I got the answer email telling when they were coming by on the day to Colorado I suddenly remembered I was keeping their dog. LOL at least I knew when they called later to confirm it. I think I will just keep her instead of putting her in the kennel. She is a good dog and very well behaved. DauL, can Duke bring a friend for Christmas?
Well, enough rambling.. I better go pay some office bills.. We got a nice size donation in the mail yesterday.. That will help us catch up, but not get totally back on full operation. The guy that has been renting the other space in this shopping center that we own came by today. He gave us his rent check and gave notice he is not going to be renting it next year. This economy has gotten to him also. The Lord will provide, it may not be what we think we need or want, but it will be what we "need" in His master plan.

Here I sit
Yes, sitting here sipping coffee to stay warm when I should be sleeping. But I am not ready to sleep. This time it is not the coffee, just a racing mind. Lots I could and should be doing, but here I sit.
Bought two sets of ornaments for the Sunday School Christmas party and gift exchange tomorrow night.. Now I can only find one set, the set I decided I did NOT want to take. Why do things look so cute in the store and so plain and boring when you get them home? We do the gift exchange where everyone takes a wrapped gift (Christmas ornament) that you think everyone else will want and fight for. It is wrapped and put under the tree. Then everyone draws a number. Number one goes to the tree, gets a present and opens it. Number two, has a choice "stealing" the present Number one got or opening a new present. And so on down the numbers it goes. The choice of an coveted opened present or the fun of opening one. We did have to put a limit on the number of times a present could be stolen when our class got so large or we would spend the entire night playing. The third person in possession of the gift gets to keep it. By the time the last numbers are called most of the early goodies are locked in so your choices are limited. But it is all in fun and everyone goes home happy. (well most do anyway! LOL)
We were torn between going to the pre visitation for Ted's brother's funeral or staying in town and attending the party. We would like to attend the visitation, but it is 90 miles to Snyder. Unless we got a motel and spent the night it would have been late when we got home and then we would have to make the trip again the next day for the actual funeral. We have been gone from there long enough that most of the people we knew when we lived there are no longer there and the ones we do know will be at the funeral Wednesday, so we will see them there. Not going for both was a hard decision for Hubby to make. DauT will be riding with us and we thought we might need to stop and pick up Hubby's aunt, but when I called her tonight she said her son is available to take her.
I guess I need to get off here and either go to bed or do something productive. Besides I am getting cold sitting here. The nice warm bed is sounding more inviting all of the time.
