  • Day two jogging

My upper thighs were a bit stiff this morning but not really sore.   By going in a circle instead of a straight line it puts a different pull on the legs. I go 10 rounds clock wise then 10 laps counterclockwise to balance the pull. The 7 extra laps are clockwise.   My right knee was pulling a bit when I finished the morning set. I will watch that and if the jogging is too much for it I will cut back to more walking. Sure don't want to get it messed up.

Ruby is very puzzled on my new activity.. it is fun for her when it is her idea but she does not like me starting it, she acts like she thinks she is in trouble for some reason and won't run, just cowers to the side.  So to keep from running over her and Duke I put them back in my office and took out on my own.

I think the exercise is also breaking up the last of the congestion from my bout with the viral/cold last week I coughed a lot more last night.  But only when I was up.. It did not keep me awake.. In fact after the extra activity and dancing last night, I was in bed by 10 PM.  VERY early for me.

Need to get off and look for a cord for the scanner I have at home..  The one I had there will not work on it. I know we have a bunch of extra cords around here.  I will try one of them to see if it works.. if it does then I will purchase one.

    Have a great weekend.

  • New Exercise Start

Ruby (the pup) has introduced me to a new exercise that I can (if I will) do at work all winter long.  I really need to boost up my exercise because I cannot seem to scale down my food intake again.  I have gained 10 lbs since I reached my goal and went on the eating binge.  I seem to be stabilized there and not continuing to gain like I did at first, however I know that if I don't do something NOW, I will gradually climb back up and I don't want that.  I feel so much better at this weight.

It started with Ruby feeling playful and inviting me to play chase with her after her outing to the alley.  We have a tall island in the back room for the packing bench. She would start running around that island trying to get me to chase her.  So I obliged her and we played chase .. I would turn around and meet her coming behind me, which in turn caused a rapid turn on her part.  Poor old Duke thinks we are nuts and usually ends up in the way just standing there trying to decide if he should run also.

Anyway after our run yesterday the light bulb went off and I decided it was something I could and should do every day on my own.  I measured the distance today.   65 feet... divide that into 5280 feet in a mile.  OK  I just need to go around the island 81 times.. Yeah, sure!!!   But wait.. I made 20 rounds this morning. 10 walking and 10 jogging.  If I added 7 more rounds it would be a third of a mile.  I should be able to do that much three times a day.  We were taught in WW that short bursts of exercise during the day would raise our metabolism and was actually better than doing it all at one time. It only took me a few minutes to do the 20 laps.   That is my new exercise goal!  One mile 4 days a week.  Not a lot, but more than I am doing now!  I hate to walk! Boring!

I am telling my Xanga buddies this goal and asking you to remind me to keep it going.  I am headed to the back now to tack on the extra 7 rounds for the AM run.  If I do it again at noon and before I go home today I should have it made.  I am just glad I work in an office by myself.. LOL People would think I am crazy going around and around in the back room.  Maybe I am!  Naw, they would just think it was my age and I had gone back there to get something, forgot what I was after and was walking around trying to remember what I was doing back there.  Don't laugh, it has happened. LOL

EDIT:   3:58 PM.... I did it.. got all of the laps in!!!  made it in 4 sessions instead of 3 but I got them in.

  • Break Time

Shower is caulked and waiting for the allotted dry time before we can use it again.  Suggested time was 48 hours.   I think that is the quickest and neatest I have ever been able to get caulking on.  Mostly because a spent a few extra bucks on some inexpensive tools instead of using make shift tools and my fingers to spread the caulk.
    My tools of the trade
    P1100105
Old rag from the rag drawer, paper towels, flat kitchen knife to run under the wall panel and loosen up the old caulk that had pushed back there, vacuum wand for getting under the crack before putting on the caulking,  Tube of caulking and a gun to put it on with. Purchased extra tools?  A couple of plastic tools, one in a sharp v shape to take out the old caulking without damaging the wall and a triangle with softer rubber on it to wet and run along the edge to smooth the grout and remove the excess.

It worked great, and the grout looks smooth and even on the tub. I am proud of me!!!  For those of you that know me well, you know that I have been known to tackle lots of home improvement chores but usually end up with as much paint etc on me as I have on the walls.  And they don't always look the best but they are done.

The tub itself could use some more elbow grease  But, I  have problems finding something that will take the built up residue off quickly without hurting the finish.  I think part of it is just stain from years of service and places where the enamel is worn, but it makes it look less than clean.

I also have most of the laundry done.  One load left on the floor.  Did not have as much today for some reason.

I think that is most of what I plan on doing today.  Several other jobs that I could tackle but I will put them on hold.  I do want to see if I can get the copier/scanner that I have hooked up to my computer.  I had been using the one at work for scanning but it went out.  I have a few things that need scanned for genealogy.  So I will attempt to hook this one up.

Duke was outside today enjoying the pretty weather.. I was busy, Ruby was feeling neglected so she turned to her lamb for comfort.  She adopted this stuffed lamb when we first got her. She "nursed it" and still does occasionally when she feels the need of some comfort.

It is beyond the stage of being able to tell what it once was.  But still her favorite toy.  Stuffing is long gone except for some in the legs.  I do it like a childs comfort blanket.. Occasionally I get it away long enough for it to go through the laundry.  I have not found another stuffed toy that she will accept in its place.  She plays with them some but goes back to this one.

Meeting a friend for lunch today.  Still in my grubbies so I better get off and go change.

  • GOING WELL

At least for now it is.  Coughing is almost gone.  Yeahhhhh, I do feel better.  I still have a tightness in my chest occasionally but even that is better. We went to dance class last night and made it through the whole evening without running out of energy.  Did cough a few times when I got overheated.

Have a day off tomorrow.  Need to finish the shower caulking I started working on Sunday.  We both like that one better for our showers.  I could do some on it tonight but the light will be better in there tomorrow.

Not much else going on to post about so I will sign off.  Just wanted to stay in touch.  I did read your posts via my subs before I came here.

  • DIANE SIT !!! STAY !!!

This "bug" is the craziest thing. I am either full of energy and cannot sit still, or I am coughing my lungs out, cannot breathe, and totally sapped of energy! And it can change with in an hours time from totally one to the other. Did not sleep again last night, coughed most of the night and felt lousy, so skipped church.  Then, all of a sudden, the coughing stopped, I was wired and wanting to get up and DO SOMETHING.

I just removed the caulking between the bathtub and the shower wall. When I cleaned it Friday I noticed there were holes in it and mold was moving in. I cleaned it then sprayed it with bleach, now to let it set.  That is why I am on the computer. LOL Hoping to resist the urge to do more. I got hot and started to wheeze again. Turned on the AC and sat down. I am through for the day. The caulking needs to stay out several hours to make sure it is totally dry behind the wall board before new caulk is added anyway. We can use the other shower a few days.

I have FarmTown harvested and replanted, fish world fish fed, Roller Coaster  set up and waiting for new tours to arrive so I guess I will either work on genealogy for a while or go take a nap.  Probably genealogy, I still feel too wired to sleep.  I promised another researcher that I would send her some old letters and photo's of an old family cemetery that we visited an took photographs of several years ago.  Now to find the pictures! I have a few scanned in but I know I have more pictures that were taken and printed before my digital camera.  I also have some old letters to dig out and scan but I think  I will wait on that. It would require too much energy since I have to move boxes to get to that file.
